  1. Im not cutting up my bomber jacket. it matches my aviator sunglasses and green DCs.
  2. plane is taken apart for annual right now. LASAR is closed until next week sometime, then a wait for shipping. Wondering if anybody has the oring sizes to rebuild the flap pump? Can I get the orings at spruce? Just saw mine is leaking a little.
  3. I just mounted the new one using the old whiskey compass mount. Didnt have to drill out the poprivets that way. Its pretty far back towards the windows and not in the way at all. Took all my inspection panels off for annual today so once thats done Ill go swing it and see if I need the compensation balls.
  4. oh definitely. as well as forever homebuilt projects. Theres more than one guy been caught living in hangars at chino and whiteman. Yea and cable has none available... i looked there as well.
  5. I understand the anger lol. But its hasnt ever sat empty. Hes had a friends plane in there. I got lucky and the friend sold his Cub and has been hemming and hawing about buying something else so it was empty about a month when my CFI put us in touch.
  6. digging out my spreadsheet... KSNA $600 month. but impossible to get. waiting list is 10 years or something. I got lucky and met a guy that has had a hangar forever but hasnt owned his own plane in years. He's allowed to fly my plane (never has) and I pay half the rent. So my hangar is $300/month. I needed a hangar for all my tools as I live in a condo and sold my business and have no warehouse space anymore. If I hadnt stumbled on this awesome deal I was looking at everything within 200 miles. corona $400ish. power, no water. bunch of yahoos in the pattern, untowered. floods every 5 years. I would have gone here since its the closetest drive from my house that had units available. other than SNA which is 15 minutes away from me. chino $250 no water, no power. Towered, cheap gas, hot gas pump girls. No availability right now on Ts. With power they go up to $5-600 but none available. Long beach must all be private because they were $1000 a month or something when I looked. fullerton, none available. mohave spaceport $300. none available El monte $695 power no water Bracket $680 camarillo $450ish I think they are all private and there were a couple available. but its way out in ... camarillo. nice for lunch to fly in, wouldnt ever want to drive from OC out there.
  7. i have a buddy with a twin cessna that leaves it outside. He decided a paint job every 8 years is cheaper than a hangar and he doesnt touch his own plane. I got a T hangar because I like tinkering and need a spot for all my tools, cleaning supplies etc etc. Sucks trying to work on a plane in a tiedown spot.
  8. I used them for my prebuy. nothing bad to say about them but my annual is this week so will see what my IA sees.
  9. i have separate high and low vac lights.
  10. ill give that a shot, thanks
  11. negative. never comes on. It used to come on when the master came on (I think). I have a gauge so I didnt pay much attention to the idiot light until I started trying to get all my lights in the cabin working.
  12. when should the low vac light be on? If master is on and engine not running the low vac light should be lit right? Pushing the light to test it does light up so the bulb isnt burnt out. Vac switch bad? They seem to be unobtanium and i dont really want to get an addon low vac system when can just replace a switch.
  13. my wife gave me a "look" and said dont forget you own a plane.
  14. Theoretically... If someone were to swap tachs, do you grease the cable? I heard it looks like there was some kind of goo in there. There was talk of a guy unscrewing the cable from the back of the tach and the inner cable with the square end didnt want to come out without some force. Is that normal? While fiddling with the back of the tach what would happen if you pulled to hard and the cable came undone from the motor side. Maybe unscrew the sheath from the motor side and stick the inner cable back in? Possibly theres a key way on the motor end and it only goes one way? I thought I had heard something about cables being to long and destroying a tach? What would cause that? How would you know if its to long?
  15. these are orange and look to be silicon. Now to find a slotted tip for my torque wrench. thanks!!
  16. Anybody know the size of of the valve cover bolts? Slotted head. Noticed a bolt stuck down in my cowl flap. Little looking and found it fell out of the valve cover. Started checking the tightness of all the rest and they were all barely tight. Cant believe it wasnt leaking oil. Found another one missing on the other side of the plane as well but couldnt find that screw... Then I left the hangar and forgot to bring one with me. So are they like car valve covers where its just tighten enough to not squeeze the gaskets out or some particular torque setting?
  17. I was thinking about this yesterday as I was studying for IR written. or instead of studying I should say.. If thats the alternate static valve and you are in hard imc and getting knocked around and your static ports freeze over or whatever; you have to dig up behind your panel hopefully not grabbing a handful of rats nest wires, and spin or pull that thing? Seems like a terrible place to put it. From another thread on MS it doesnt look like this was factory?
  18. I think I can beat it into submission. I have a welder and a cutting torch if things get serious. No IA required!!
  19. ah snowblower!! thanks guys. I couldnt find a part number anywhere on mine. Im going to pull the shifter out and see if it looks the same.
  20. My hangar partner has an old powertow with a Tecumseh gas engine. The detents on the transmission feel pretty gone so it easily goes from forward to reverse skipping neutral and you can get it into a nifty back and forth slam dance. Until I fix it Im not attaching my precious nose wheel to that monster. I took the transmission off yesterday just to say I did something aviation related... Wondering if anybody has fixed one of these before or knows what I should search for for a replacement. My google fu is failing me today.
  21. next question regarding the same aftermarket cover... I have to take it off to replace my tach. While its off a few of the sockets those bulbs go in are flakey. have to push pull and twist around to get the bulb to work and that usually doesnt last long. So I was going to try to cleanup the connections. Is it just 1 power and 1 ground going to the cover or is each bulb wired separately?
  22. now I ask myself why I only bought 1 extra 330 when I was at spruce last
  23. Looks like a couple of these panel lights are burned out. Unlike some other styles the bulb seems to be integrated into the casing?? Looks like it would be a GE330 but I cant get the bulb out. So does anybody know what these are called and where to find a replacement? Or should I get out the pliers and see if the bulb will come out? I dont think these are original. Looks like they came with some kind of aftermarket panel cover. (which is ugly as hell and id like to get rid of). its only on the copilot side. pilot side is all eyebrow lights.
  24. the link says vertical mount but your pic looks to be horizontal mount?
  25. Power of Mooneyspace. Within 10 minutes of posting I have a used one on the way for a great deal!!
