  1. Just an uncommon plane with relatively speaking no manufacturer or owner support compared to an RV. If you didn’t build it good luck finding a mechanic with experience working on one. Whereas Mooneys and RVs are a dime a dozen. Heck Id bet theres more RVs flying than Mooneys today. I built a -9A, 2014, one of the top 5 in the world i’d bet. But now flying a Super Viking and loving it. You should hop over to the Super Viking Forum. Might find an undervalued amazing machine in your price range. Had her loaded up at gross weight this weekend with the family climbing out at 1000fpm + at 88 degrees F. and cruising at 160 knots. Not to mention the superb handling! 2. I sure miss the experimental I built, maintained and inspected. Maintenance costs was almost nothing. Fuel, oil and gas, maybe a couple tires. Plus hangar and insurance. Lots of good Flying weather in Texas. Here in the upper midwest a plane without FIKI is pretty much useless as a reliable means of business transportation for half of the year. A Mooney is essentially a four seat RV in terms of performance, efficiency and cost. Good choice You’d be better off driving for business than a T-18. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. My RV-9A Insurance $100k hull was almost half the cost of my M20C insurance $50k hull. $1000per year vs. $1800. That was a few years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. isn’t it nuts how small the HSI display is on a G5 compared to a standard 3-1/8” HSI. the actual round dial looks like half the size. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Valid points, I suppose it’s most likely these situations that will cause a gear up. An IMC approach also comes to mind, diligence to use a checklist will help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I am curious how someone can become configured for landing approach speed without lowering the gear. It seems necessary for me to to lower the gear just to help get slowed down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Plane is Sold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. New panel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I copied every page of all my logbooks back to 1968 to 11x17 paper, (so two pages would fit without being cut off) then scanned to a single PDF per book to email. 7 books in total. Took an hour tops. And a bonus, now I have digital and hard copies for safe keeping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Call Kevin at NAFCO 800.999.3712 low rates long terms, no payoff penalty. I don't finance toys but it can be useful in the interim between buying/selling and getting funds in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Based on this my C is a good bargain! Make me an offer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I got an opportunity to purchase back the RV-9A that I built a few years ago, so I did.[emoji106]. Now the Mooney will need to go[emoji25] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. MT is a great propeller. I installed one on my 182 and it was amazing how smooth and quiet it was. Pulled and braked like a Mack truck too. The nickel leading edges never shown any where either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. When folks are talking about running LOP with a carb; are you referring to running LOP on the first cylinder to peak only? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I just got ripped off fargo jet center. $430 for prop balance Friday and I just read the invoice. "Prop measured .07, no additional weight added". I used to balance the prop on my RV in about an hour; no problem getting .02 or less. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Are your instruments backlit? Looks like the same panel I am installing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have no idea. It was in existing panel when I purchased it. It will be removed likely when I redo the right side. Save some weight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. When I purchased my 1968 Mooney M20C, it came with an aluminum six pack panel blank, one that I've seen installed in other panels. So I talked to local avionics guy and plan to have this installed in a few weeks. It seems pretty straight forward to me. I want to do the left side first and then down the road install a new JPI to reconfigure the right side and then further down the road upgrade the center stack. Any advice going into this? How should I paint it. I was thinking a 3M di noc carbon fiber wrap? Before: After: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Are you leaning for best takeoff power at altitude? This as common as a mag check during my flight instruction in CO. However all my flat land flying ever since is always full rich for takeoff and when I do go to a high altitude airport I'm now uncomfortable pulling the mixture out for takeoff. 22. When it comes to backcountry flying; usually the concern is getting out of the strips you can get into, as most planes take more Distance to takeoff and/or clear any obstacles, than it does to land. Go to YouTube and search for piperpainter, he flies a Mooney M20C into some pretty precarious spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
