  1. Tragic. Lots of flat space for an off field landing in the area.
  2. Oakland is very easy and the FBO will probably drop you at BART. They've dropped me off and picked me back up at A's games. If you're not gaining anything by going to Hayward, just go to Oakland.
  3. I made the Shelter Cove run today for fish & chips. Awesome flight, awesome weather. Didn't want to leave!
  4. My understanding is the biggest improvements to the 252 were the intercooler and automatic turbo waste gate. It seems many 231 owners have made these upgrades. Best bang for the buck would be an upgraded 231 in my opinion. And there were significantly more 231s produced.
  5. The cost of the GMA 340, GTN 650 + WAAS antenna, and JPI 830 engine anlyzer would be well over $20k installed. The very nice leather interior would also cost several thousands installed. If the prebuy checks out and you can live without autopilot, this looks like a great airplane and you will be VERY pleased owning it, flying it, and doing your IFR training in it. Personal opinion, I really like the classic paint scheme too. Be sure to keep ten grand in your pocket for the unforeseen.
  6. Spread was closer to 1gph. Might be time to upgrade to GAMIs.
  7. 8 small airports in a day during transition training. Time well spent!
  8. Guys, thanks for all the great info! I'll find out my GAMI spread on my way to Sedona on Thursday and report back.
  9. What is the consensus on running LOP without GAMI injectors on a fuel injected 360 Lycoming?
  10. It's a heavy lifter. There is a lumber company that uses the Kmax for helicopter logging in Oregon.
  11. Yes that's it, the RV & Deli for fish & chips.
  12. Fish & chips are at the south end of the field at the general store. That is also the preferred place to park. There is also a restaurant on the north end of the field, but the parking area there is not quite flat. I had to relocate a 172 once when I discovered the parking brake was inop. It could have ended up in the ocean...!
  13. Also, watch out for flying golf balls and kids riding bikes on the runway... I've seen it!
  14. I head there often for fish & chips, it's great! Well worth a visit. Ocean on three sides and a mountain on the fourth. Coastal fog can be an issue. Tie downs only and no IFR approaches. Also, no fuel. Little River KLLR is a good option if you need to divert.
  15. I am based at KSTS, would love to check out the link and see who is in my area. Thanks!
  16. Brookings, Oregon & St. George Lighthouse near Crescent City, CA
  17. Sounds like fun, I'll try to join. Do they have the 72 oz T-bone?
  18. Looks awesome! If you're going to have the panel apart and incur the avionics labor costs anyway, you might as well bite the bullet and install an ADS-B capable transponder now. It would be a shame to have to pay someone to pull the stack apart in a year or two. Not to mention, your airplane would be offline again for a week or two at least.
