  1. Just installed new speed mod STC with more cabin space.
  2. My M20J Mooney had this I think on the right side. Apparently since new as I saw the original owner had some type of entry complaining about it in the logbooks.
  3. I’m becoming a routine fan of this channel.
  4. We have done software upgrades on G1000 equipped Bell 505 helicopters and GTX 345 installs. It’s a bitch. Because it is OEM, Garmin does not provide support on it. Usually there is no install guide, so you really need to know what you’re doing to set these things up.
  5. I did not buy it back, I own a paint, interior, and avionics shop. The guy I sold it to brought it back for the Avionics work.
  6. This is incorrect. I indeed used VNAV for the descent portion of the RNAV 19 approach into KWWD. The autopilot descended to the 2,500 altitude constraint at KAGYS and then proceeded to the 1,700 altitude constraint at KIMBA before then capturing the GP at the FAF (KIMBA). At 23:28 in my video I dialed the altitude preselect to the 1,700 FAF altitude at KIMBA, and at 23:30 you see me press the VNAV button on the AP. Maybe what is confusing you is that the AFCS annunciation on the GFC 600 is “VPATH” and not “VNAV” like the GFC 500, it it is the same thing, just different terminology between the two AP’s. The rest of the video beyond 23:30 shows the aircraft descend to the altitude constraints via VNAV (VPATH) before then capturing the GP at KIMBA. I chose the prior video because it showed VNAV to the FAF. I have another video where I shot the same approach in a Mooney using a GFC 500, GI 275, and GTN 750 Xi, but I only did VNAV to KAGYS (the IF prior to the FAF). KAGYS inbound was then done via the GP. if you rather see it in a Mooney with a GFC 500 start at 16:10 in the below video. Just realize I do not use VNAV all the way to the FAF in the below video.
  7. See 22:40 in this video, I demonstrate a RNAV approach that has double step down VNAV descent, and then transition to a LPV Glidepath. I am using a G500 TXi, GFC 600, and GTN 650 Xi in the video. In this approach, I also talk about the GFC 500 not being able to do a VNAV descent to the FAF. As previously discussed in this thread, that is no longer true due to a software update to the GFC 500 that added that capability.
  8. Just caught this new channel, Pilot Eats Food. 1st episode. Good humor, unique idea, it held my attention and earned my subscription.
  9. I can confirm all you need is the software update. I have a GI275 that used to be as you describe, and now displays as you were hoping.
  10. Back in April of 2021 I uploaded a Garmin GFC 500 in flight autopilot overview which can be found here: Today I just uploaded a Garmin GFC 600 autopilot in flight overview. Not only is it an in flight overview of the GFC 600, but it also builds upon and compares some of the differences between the GFC 500 and GFC 600 which people may find interesting, but the GFC 500 is what is applicable for Mooney’s.
  11. My Brother’s is: Certificate: AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT Ratings: AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND AIRPLANE MULTIENGINE LAND ROTORCRAFT-HELICOPTER COMMERCIAL PRIVILEGES AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE SEA LIGHTER-THAN-AIR BALLOON Type Ratings: A/CE-525S A/LR-60 A/LR-JET Still fits on one certificate.
