  1. Yea I was planning on that part.
  2. So it's time for the first annual since I bought my Bravo. I'm scheduled to go in at the end of the month. Any advice for me? Thanks!
  3. Thanks I'll take a closer look at the baffles tonight but I don't think I'll have time to do the plugs.
  4. Ok so lately my #6 CHT has been running about 12 to 15 degrees hotter than the rest of the cylinders. In order for me to keep #6 under 400 degrees I have to keep the cowl flaps about 1/2 way open. Has anyone else had this problem? IVestas always been told if you run a cylinder over 400 you're doing damage to it. I have ano 89 bravo for what it's worth. Any ideas what could cause it? I'm going to run up to the airport and pull the cowling off today and see if there is something that could be ubstructing the airflow but I just had it off for an oil change and didn't notice anything. I was having the problem before the oil change so it's nothing I did durring that process. Also the EGT for that cylinder is the same as the rest so the fuel burn seems to be the same.
  5. Well I was lucky enough to buy my plane with a fresh paint job so no need for the clay bar yet. I may do the wax job soon though.
  6. Thanks for the help. Turns out the small town Airport here had everything I needed and the manager even offered to give me a hand. The cowling was easier than I thought it would be. I'm going to order a bottle of cam guard tonight so I should have it in before I go flying again. Hardest part of the day was washing the plane after the oil change. Plane washing is a lot like work
  7. Ok so I'm getting ready to to the first oil change on my new to me Bravo and am looking for some advice. First I am trying to locate a digital version of the maintenance manual so if anyone knows a good place to get that I would appreciate it. Second is I need to order everything for the oil change since I'm currently located right in the middle of nowhere (O'Neill Nebraska) and don't know of a good brick and mortar store to buy from. So what site do you guys recommend for ordering parts from? Also since I don't have the manual I don't have a list of parts or part numbers that I will need so if anyone has that list it would be very helpful. I've done owner maintenance on previous aircraft I've owned but this will be the first on my Mooney so if you have any helpful tips and tricks I would love to hear those as well. Oh and if by chance there is anyone close by that wants to lend a helping hand I'll gladly supply the cold beverages and maybe some pizza. Thanks
  8. I'm going to fly out of f82 (lubbock executive) tomorrow but don't know where to yet.
  9. I travel for work but right now I'm in the lubbock tx area
  10. This is a great discussion. I originally wanted to get my ir in my cherokee but it is lacking modern instruments and I don't think I wold get the full benifits of the training, i.e. gps and auto pilot portions. I'm not going to jump right into it but I do want to start soon. I have been flying for 6 years now and definatly don't claim to know it all but I do feel that I'm in a place to start the instrument training, at least as far as knowledge goes but as for getting ahead of the bravo that's just a matter of burning fuel and practice. I have gone through the ir ground course more than once just for the knowledge. My thought behind training in the bravo is its just that much more experience in my own bird. No offense but I'm not going to buy a mooney just to turn around and rent a 172 and develop all the cessna habits only to go right back to the mooney. I'm sure it may take a little longer to get in sync with the bravo but I believe it will be worth it in the long run. I don't plan on flying solo into Imc until I have more than just the ir ticket but I do want the knowledge incase the weather changes on me and I find myself above a cloud layer that I can't get through in vfr. Again this is a good discussion and has got me thinking if things that I hadn't considered yet. I think my excitement is clouding some of the realities but that's ok, after all aviation is supposed to be fun and exciting. I'm so blessed to be at a point in my life where this is all possible.
  11. I'm transitioning from a Cherokee 235. I'm not IR but planning on training in the bravo soon. I have 37 hrs in a Cessna 402 so it won't be my first rodeo with retracts and constant speed prop. As for the transition training I am definitely planning on getting it. I would be a fool not to plus who doesn't like learning all the ins and outs of your new baby. I haven't made arrangements yet but the financing just got approved today and I didn't want to make plans until it was a sure thing. Also I found a pdf version of the POH online and have made my way through most of that. Good idea on the auto pilot manual I hadn't thought of that. Oh and the smile muscles are already getting sore. Thanks for all the help.
  12. So I'm in the final stages of purchasing a bravo. Do you guys have any material, text or video, that I can start studying up on? Ive seen reference to a video of the landing procedure, that would be great to get my hands on. Also checklists or really anything remotely related. I love aviation so I'll pretty much study anything I can get my hands on. Thanks guys and I'm looking forward to being a mooney driver!
  13. I work for Vestas. Their a wind turbine manufacturer and I work on new construction projects. I usually change sites every couple months. I don't necessarily fly for work but I do travel from site to site in my plane instead of flying commercial. I'm not commercial rated so I don't get paid to fly but maybe someday.
  14. Oh I'm planning on transition training. I am from Amarillo TX but my job is 100% travel so home is all over the place. Perfect job for a pilot. I'm still in the TX area but only for a couple more months.
  15. Hi everyone I'm new to the group. I'm currently in the process of converting from piper to money and couldn't be happier. I'm buying an 89 bravo so it's a bit of a step up from my 64' Cherokee 235. I've been reading through these forums for last few days and found lots of good info. Seems like you guys really love your planes and have a good community here.
