  1. 3 years ago at 72 my underwriter advised they may want me out of a retract at 75. Contacted Avemco. Their response -1. keep a third class 2. keep flying with CAP 3. Check ride and IPC every year. 5600 hours. 1600 in my F. And...wait for it...my rate went down this year!!
  2. My IA asked if I have thought about the one piece belly mod for my 75 F. Hadn’t really. Is it worth the money?
  3. With the cowl closure and 201 windshield I beat book by 3 to knots at all altitudes in my 75 F.
  4. Should have been cleared - the on / off button broke in the middle.
  5. Switch broke. Tried Lasar. Nope. Any ideas where to find one? Thanks.
  6. Was a pleasure meeting you Russ! Safe travels to you both.
  7. Bought the 9 size. Large 24 tank for sale - $350. Brad
  8. McFarlane part number MC 1241-34.
  9. Ask my IA to get the number. I'm sure it will be different for the 231 (having owned one before). Will post when I hear back.
  10. Cable on my 75 M20F broke. My IA, Rich at MEV had MacFarlane make me a new one with the push button lock. Cost was $285. Works great!!
  11. Carson Valley Aircraft - Rich - (775) 230-4961. Rich has maintained my Exec and 231 for years. Very knowledgeable...and very busy. Fly down and meet him. He's in the Hutt FBO hangar. Brad
  12. Tough to beat military training. Fortunate. Now fly weekly.
  13. Global had underwritten me for the last 12 years. Upon turning 72 it doubled. Went with AVEMCO. I flew F4s. Still fly with CAP. IPC / BFR annually. Over 1500 Mooney hours. No items on my Class 3. Advanced Wings. Appalled that age has become the determining factor.
  14. Great discussion. I had my first 1975 F in 2001. Upgraded to 231 in 2005. Market tanked. Sold 231 to guy across the taxiway. Flew my sons Grumman til market came back. Bought back my 1975 F in 2011. Since then, upgraded paint, interior, avionics, Marquis engine. I ask myself often if I should move back up. My trips are mostly under 300 NM with an 800 NM to Mexico twice a year. For the Mexico 400 NM legs, I leave before the 231 and land within minutes of him. So, after looking at Ovations, 252s, Bravos, I have finally (today anyway) decided the F is my lifetime plane.
  15. Fly to Mexico 2-3 times a year. Best thing to do is join Baja Bush Pilots. All info is there and as a member you may use their system for EAPIS filing for US and Mexico. Member for 21 years. Brad
  16. Look forward to seeing you and the Husky in the pattern!
  17. Like a couple of others, wanted to fly military, but failed eye test. Enlisted after Baylor (dad received my draft notice). Before shipping out to Accounting and Finance school, a new Commander came to Lackland from Viet Nam. Had flown there. TI got me a meeting with him. Also a Baylor Graduate. Said the F-4 was transitioning from pilots in back seat to WSOs. Ask if that would work. Of course said yes. He called the flight surgeon he knew in VN. I hiked across the base-retook the eye exam-was classified flying class 1A. Flew as WSO, graduate, then instructor at USAF Fighter Weapons School. Out in 78 to Reno ANG. Retired 89. Still fly with CAP. Had AA1B, F, 231, and back to original F. Was great replacing pilots - first think the front seaters did was teach us to fly! Spider
  18. Been tapping mine for 10 years. Never changes, so I live with it.
  19. Done. Merry Christmas to all. Fly safe!
