  1. I think I would sell a few organs for that plane.
  2. Hey everyone. I'm an instrument rated private pilot and was wanting to get everyone's input. Have M20J prices come down over the past few years? I've been thinking that for me to buy a J equipped like I want (low-mid time engine, 430, AP, no tank leaks) I'd have to shell out 100k. Now I've seen a few examples listed in the 70's. If I could score one for 60 something I think I could make that work with my budget. Are these deals too good to be true? Would it be possible to pick up a mid time engined J with a 430 and AP for less than 70k that did not have major issues?
  3. Did not realize this. So there is no way to attach shoulder harnesses in the back of the short body mooneys?
  4. I have considered an F as well. My thinking is I can get a good C for 35k, F for 50, or a J for a little more than 80. This particular C stood out as a good deal. Ive heard the T hangars at DKX are pretty tough to come by. Are you aware of any gang hangar availability at DKX or TYS? I'd definitely want to hangar the bird.
  5. Hey all, I'm a long time lurker and post more actively on POA. I'm an IR PPL, live in Atlanta, GA and am moving to Knoxville, TN soon. I'm currently a part of a flying club with a 180hp 172N and a 150. My dream plane is an M20J (or A36 or PC12 or King Air), but realistically 80% of my flights are 2 people or less. I'm married with a 2 year old and would like the capability to be able to fly 2 adults and 2 kids. do you all think an M20C could be a good fit? I love the mooney from an efficiency standpoint, but haven't really seen how much room there is in a short body. I'm 6' am wondering if a child (up to 10 years old) could fit in the back easily. Also, what are your thoughts on this C model? It seems like it could work for what I want (GPS, AP, J mods). I think a J model would be at least twice the price. http://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=MOONEY&model=M20C&listing_id=2161065&s-type=aircraft Anyone around Atlanta have a short body I could look at one day? I fly out of LZU, but could easily go to any other Atlanta airports. -Wayne
  6. I fly out of LZU and saw this Mooney on the ramp after the collapse. I was sad to see the damage, but am glad that everyone was OK!
  7. I saw that one posted last week. I know there's not many mite's still around, but it looks like it would be a fun little plane!
  8. I typically fly out of LZU but PDK is about the same distance from me as well. I also work closer to FTY so I'm not too far from RYY or CNI on my drive home from work.
  9. Hey all. I'm a low time private pilot outside of Atlanta and will be getting my complex endorsement knocked out tomorrow (wx permitting) in an arrow and am working toward my instrument rating. My current plan is to buy a mooney in about 2 years. I've got in my mind that an F model would work really well for me. 80% of my flights would likely just be me, but the other 20% would be with my growing family (currently my wife and a 7 month old Daughter) to visit family in Memphis, Indianapolis, and Naples, FL. I haven't had a chance to sit in a mooney yet but from all that I've read about them I think it would be a great airplane for me! I'll continue to lurk here and I post more regularly on Pilots of America. Thanks for all the good info!
