  1. I get no fresh air from this vent just heat. Have flown other Mooney s where they get nice fresh air thru this vent. Any thoughts ??
  2. Just helped replace disk on five aircraft. Rented tools from Lasar. Disk from Spruce. Both great to work with. My steering is noticeably smoother. My disk were made in 1967. It was time. PB blaster the ever loving $#@*&& out of the gear bolts and especially the collar holding the strut the disk are on a day before you jack aircraft up .
  3. I tend to agree that six quarts seems to be the sweet spot. I’ve had my G model for seven years and add seven when I change the oil. It smears on the belly and gets neat at six. I’m going to talk with my mechanic in July at annual but six quarts is a lot cleaner.
  4. Just finished doing five Mooneys. C thru G . Spruce was best price on disk. Got tools from Lasar. Both were great to do business with. Soak all your bolts thoroughly a day before you start and remove the cover plate above the collar so you can get plenty of PB blaster on the collar. We had one that took a day and a half of soaking before it came loose.
  5. In the middle of doing five Mooneys C,E, F and G. A note to remember is there can be a plate cover over the top of the collar which prevents getting PB blaster down on the collar. We had to soak one for a day to get the disk off. 1968 that had never been changed thank goodness it has bladder tanks. Best price on disk was from Spruce with tool rental from Lasar. Both great folks to work with. Soak the crap out off the bolts before you attempt this job. I think I realize why mechanics don’t change them. Kind of like the oil suction screen operation. All have a great day and fly safely.
  6. I am with Global. USAIG would have given me same policy with smooth limits for about $2500 . I hear that most will nor write a retractable policy now after you turn seventy. A friend went to Avemco and got insured. My agent is Travers and they said it’s the industry after a few years of big losses but still irks me.
  7. Retired airline captain here. Just turned 65 my insurer will not offer me my million smooth I have been carrying. I can get it from another carrier for about 50% more. Experience seems to not matter. I have about 5k in GA aircraft about 24k total. Not happy but oh well.
  8. I have fixed my flaps —- a lot of help from my son and a good friend. When the pump was reinstalled the adel clamp on the up down control line was put on the elevator control rod so as I was applying nose up input it caused the flaps to move. We moved the clamp to one of the hydraulic fittings , did some adjustments and it works. Thanks to all on the forum who helped out and happy new year.
  9. Thanks.  I guess this is the “drift” mentioned in other post. I wonder why the overhaul shop did not mention this.

  10. Anybody interested in a $$100 hamburger this week at kbnl. Let me know and we can get a crew car and eat at Anthony s. It’s close and not bad. Also Bnl has great fuel prices. I know it’s short notice but I thought I’d throw it out there. TR Parrish 8034636043 cell I’m near Columbia SC has
  11. I had a fluid leak in my flap pump on my 68 M20G. I had the pump rebuilt . After putting the pump back on my flaps now bleed up in the flare. I have worked on adjusting the cable linkage several times and I am getting frustrated. Any wisdom would be appreciated. Could I still have a problem with the pump itself ? Could the ball or spring be out of tolerance ? The flaps pump down normally but come up as I flare the plane. I have become very proficient at no flap landings. Merry Christmas and happy holidays and New Years to all. Fly safely. TR Cell 893 463 6943
  12. On my 68 M20g I have overhauled the pump. Now the flaps are bleeding back up after pumping them down. Any wisdom out there on the adjustment. Getting very proficient at panel and screw removal. Last night the flaps stayed full right up to the flare then started coming up—- not the best landing. Any tips would be appreciated.
  13. I agree except the search feature could be improved, it only looks at one word. For example a search for cabin vent will show a lot of different feeds most not appropriate. Fly safely
  14. Thanks. Makes sense I guess I have original. Glad I’ve got bladders.
  15. I’ve got a 1968 :M20 G . I was cleaning up the belly and noticed 7-67 on the disk . Could these possibly be the original ??
  16. I’ve noticed flying in another friends mooney that my cabin vent knob does not work properly. Any tips on adjusting. Also I can not find a good diagram in the MM. Thanks
  17. I get it mostly from my companies wx link . I’ll loose that when I retire later this month. Flight service should have access to it. There was a Unysis site on the web. Safe travels

  18. There is no exact tool or index . The lifted index is another tool that had served me well over many years of flying.
  19. Great photos !!!
  20. I think mine are the original. I see 7-67 on the disc and my m20 G is a 68. I guess it’s time to change them.
  21. Just had a leak on my m20 G. The previous owners had put the black gook in the rain gutter. Not good. It held up for several years but now is not tight . Thanks for all the info. I do have a box of the 3m stuff.
  22. I’m about to retire from “sludge air” and have been around the block 25 k plus hours. - I’m senior- and I read a Business and Commercial Aviation article years ago about thunderstorms and all part 121 hull losses had occurred when the lifted index was minus six or worse. I study this chart before every flight and the worse the lifted index the more cautious I become. While I’m writing please remember nexrad is a great planning tool. It is not weather radar . I can go on about two fatal GA accidents caused by pilots trying to penetrate wx on nexrad . Do not rely on it for tactical wx penetration. Fly safely and have a great day.
  23. Anyone have a picture of the rain shield from Mooney. My m20 g does not have one. Comm was noisy in the rain last trip.
  24. thanks guys for the quick feedback does anyone know who made it off hand. I'm on the road trying to find where to repair it.
