  1. I might take you up on that ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. This is very helpful. And I agree, I actually have a little 100 mile trip I do between KOFK and KLNK that I fly very regularly. The original reason we got stuck was I made a no go call on marginal vfr with icing. My intention was to slowly increase what I’m comfortable with on that little well known route /frequencies/approaches. Unfortunately my first actual instrument was inadvertent going from klcg to KOLV on our way back from a trip to Florida KTIX ....nothing like your first single pilot IMC trip being with your pregnant wife on Friday the 13th during world apocalypse to make you think really hard about go/no go decisions. So we just got back to Memphis late last night, and want to get the plane back home to the next few days. Fortunately we have family to stay with here. What I will say though, is flying down the coast into KTIX for a Nebraska guy was the experience of a lifetime. And if you ever are thinking about whether or not to go to a space x launch, that’s a go! It’s amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. So I suppose if we had a discussion board for weather I’d post the flight and my info. Newly instrument rated pilot with 2 hours of actual IMC single pilot. 700 hour pilot, 30 years old. 250 in the Mooney bravo. TKS but not certified, inadvertent Icing only. GTN 750 with G5 HSI and KFC150 autopilot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’ll kick it off with a discussion about this flight, good weather at departure and destination. Low IFR and weather system enroute. Looking to make this trip within the next few days, not gonna experiment with it this morning....but hopefully before we get some sort of domestic travel ban (hopefully doesn’t happen). 5. Hahah I haven’t heard that one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yah, I just want to find that sweet spot where we get utility out of the plane and don’t add unnecessary risk or stress. There seems to be a pretty good gap in how we communicate about weather for some reason though. People have either been through it and know what they are comfortable with or they are newbies like me. 7. Hey all. Just a thought, I finally got my instrument rating after 12 years with just the VFR ticket. While go / no go decisions are always on the pilot, would anyone find it helpful to post routes past present or future and discuss different weather conditions and what to expect/ or what was experienced. Seems like “stay out of the yellow” or “green takes the bugs off, yellow takes the paint off, red takes the wings off” are some of the old sayings we get. I think it would be more interesting for some of us new to IMC to have a hypothetical go/no go and why message board or a place for those who have more experience to talk about their experience with pictures of the forecast. If this has already been done or there is a good thread point me that direction. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. First of all I can’t imagine the pain family and friends are going through right now. Just wondering if this is a reminder that we are ultimately the pilots and can say “Unable” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. There’s the answer we are looking for! Thanks Mike! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yah, have done a few 600 NM flights in the mid teens with cannulas and I feel like that’s Probably ultimately where what I’m doing will land but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wouldn’t want to try a high altitude flight like that at some point...but agree would have to check 02 obsessively. 12. Yah....absolutely getting utility out of this airplane haha makes me feel like I’m majorly underutilizing my plane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Anyone know the owner of 82CG? Saw him “fly over” on flight radar 24...wondering what he uses for a mask 25k feet for 4 hours sounds like a feat to me But I haven’t tried it so maybe I’m overthinking the comfort level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Awesome, thanks for sharing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Ok thanks, annual is in 3 weeks. Get the plugs checked first and maybe have them take a closer look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Awesome thank you very much. This site is unbelievably valuable even for small issues. Thank you all, I’ll lean hard and run a mag check and then have mechanic check plugs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That was what my initial thought was as I tend to run a little rich. I just wanted to put this out there and make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I’d love to, unfortunately I pulled the card on last flight and didn’t reinsert...of course, the only time it’s ever had any importance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Hello all was flying down to Memphis and cylinder 6 was all over the place for a few minutes on EGT but engine remained smoothed I leaned it aggressively and it stopped fluctuating. Cylinder head temp also remained smooth. Do you think I wasn't leaned aggressively enough? I was at 13,500 or is the probe likely going bad ? Or is this something I need to be worried about. Power settings 30.0 mp/ 2400 RPM 1560 TIT 13,500 altitude. After a few minutes EGT settled in at 1460 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Literally thought of this as I drove away, will let you guys know tomorrow thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I pulled the breaker on the various different warnings to no avail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Hello all, out of nowhere my cabin speaker has a extremely loud and high pitched beep when the master is turned on. Have no clue how to get it to shut off or what is going on aside from pulling it and unplugging it for now. GTN750 with internal audio panel. Beeps regardless of the the Nav/comm is on . Any help appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I think I’m in a weird camp on this cooking and descent topic. I reduce power slowly and throw the speed brakes but but that’s just because that’s how I enjoy flying the airplane, the inch a minute is more of a relaxing tick to get ready for the business end of the flight more so than a religious belief in shock cooling. I am unlike @gsxpilot as I do sit there and let the prop spin on the ramp for a few minutes....not because of anything anyone taught me flying but Our heavy diesel Cat Pay loaders on the farm will leave the engine run even after removing key if the turbo is hot. I figure if some engineer at Cat thinks it might help I can stare awkwardly at the ramp guy for a minute and a half. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Just in case any of you wanted to feel better about your experiences. My aircraft is STILL down @ Silverhawk at KLNK until at least next Tuesday now....it’s made it home for one night since the end of February. What a nightmare, pretty sure they can build a Mooney faster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Ok, flew today KI256 back in place... now LH alt light on, probably a separate issue but yet another squawk they “fixed” With new voltage regulator that was not an issue when I dropped the plane off (in February)...but I digress. KFC150 tracked GPSS, caught preselected altitudes so they didn’t break that functionality and we gained GPSS...and the airplane didn’t try to do a barrel roll when we clicked the auto pilot on this time which was a win compared to our last flight. Now Approach mode doesn’t work. Tracking RNAV 32 in @ KLNK in. Switched from heading to approach mode after established and plane just drifted left of course every time we tried. No vertical tracking either. GPSS was switched off. Any thoughts appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
