  1. looking at the video it looks like the light only comes when the housing is touched to the airframe, if this is the case that is normal as there is no ground wire to complete the circuit.
  2. no need to replace the whole wheel assembly, you can replace the side (half) that is bad
  3. The Coyotes and Owls have been keeping things in check, along with I keep all 11 hangars in our row mowed so it's harder for them to hide. The next row over isn't as well cared for so its a good place for the mice and rats to hang out.... away from hangar
  4. The hardware (minor kit) is the same as Mooney used on later models, which means there is only a logbook entry from an A&P, re-webbing is legal by some that is certified to do so, the problem is you do not have shoulder straps to be re-webbed, plus you can't add the strap to your existing lap belts because there is no place for the shoulder strap to be attached. When I installed the front shoulder belts I looked at getting the rear belts re-webbed, with freight both ways plus the webbing it was only about $75.00 bucks more to get new news with buckles that matched the new front. Another option is to buy the minor kit and a used set of belts
  5. Fernando, i think he is at Tipton, the plane doesn't sit, he flies all the time.
  6. Correct on the location(s), owner assisted annual was in Dec. or Jan. and all was clear.
  7. Frick'n stupid isn't it..........
  8. never seen a boat tow a plane, but i'm sure it can be done
  9. looks like a big mess to me..... He called it a Condo
  10. Ok Alex, did you get it?
  11. Just got these sent to me by a buddy in the D.C. area, this mess wasn't there 4 months ago. He parks on the ramp and uses a FULL set of covers, plugs everywhere and they still found their way in. No damage, cleaned out the mess, corrosion-X'd everything as a precaution. Thought I'd share with the group what can happen in a short while.
  12. there is, you have to drill a hole in the tubing for the PK screw (keeps the clamp from rotating), plus you have to trim the sheet metal flange around window on the pilots side (or at least I did) or risk breaking a window in the future.
  13. was going off what I paid, ordered everything thru LASAR a year and a half ago
  14. You can replace the belts and shoulder strap, what you cant do is install the mounting hardware for the shoulder strap
  15. On my iPad it says it has been shut down effective May 1, 2017......guess they jumped the gun on shutting it down. But if you look at button its shows 4 people in the room
  16. I went fixed, inertia reels can and will tighten up in turbulence pinning you in the seat.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, the $35.00 minor kit allows you to Use the J belts in the previous models
  18. Starter won't work with the master OFF, just make sure everything electrical that you can turn off is off before flipping the master ON,
  19. If your using the plug in type with an APU, just plug it in and start the plane, then unplug it after a few minutes, using jumper cables you first connect the + leads then - leads, reverse for removal - leads then + leads. you can also use the jump vehicles charging system to partially charge the dead battery, just let it idle for a while before staring the aircraft
  20. The prices being thrown around are not apples to apples, just south of a grand gets 2 sets of rear lap belts, 2 sets front lap belts with shoulder harness and the minor kit to mount the shoulder harnesses. As a pilot you are allowed to replace the seat belts but not install the minor kit (attach points for shoulder straps). Less than 600 bucks keeps both front seat occupants from hitting the panel. Anytime you can increase the safety you are ahead of the game. It amazes me people will spend mega bucks on a panel in the name of safety of flight then piss and moan on the things that truly improve your survival rate in the event you need them
  21. had an old ratty CheckMate list when I purchased the plane, I have since made my own (2 sided) along with a 2 sided W&B and Loading graph, its printed on 6.5" x 8.5" (about the same size an iPad Mini) card stock and laminated, they fit easily in the side pocket. also saved the files on my iPad and open them up in Wing-X documents. Nothing was omitted from the POH or the checkmate list in fact a few things were added
  22. I installed mine 1.5yrs ago, ordered the minor kit for the shoulder harnesses and fixed belts for pilot/copilot, ordered the rear belts a few months later. Would have to dig out the invoice, but the price seems to be about what I paid
  23. I took a guy for his first small GA flight and we needed a roaming TFR for a gas release. After an hour it eased up some, but not much. Never needed goggles in a 172 before, but could have used them that day, or a smoke hood would have been better.
  24. Alex, Fly as often and as far as you like, the more you fly the lower the cost per hour gets (to a point). I run Airhawks on both the Mooney and the Cessna, Desser seems to have better deals, my buddy has run retreads on his Cherrokee for the last 20 years with no issues. The retreads seem to have more tread depth so they might last longer, my only concern would be clearance when retracted especially on the nose gear (mine rubbed with a new tire)
  25. Not removing the upper cowl would be a real PITA.
