  1. I didn't ask if they'd stack discounts, it was 20 cents for aopa and 15 for airboss.
  2. I signed up for it on this current trip. The one airport that offered a discount gave me a cheaper price for being an aopa member.
  3. My 2 has also overheated, mine gets hot on the back so I don't think it's solar gain causing it. Turning the screen brightness down as low as I can helps a lot, might be worth a shot.
  4. Our panels were repainted some years ago, but now it's flaking off a little, any suggestions for prep? Sand? Soda blast? I need some gentle way to prep the surface without damaging the texture.
  5. how an airline dispatches an aircraft to a notam'd closed airport without lots of extra fuel is beyond me. yet the news makes it out to be the faa's fault of course. it's been many years since I flew into fargo, but they didn't have an approach control, so without listening to the tapes he was probably holding with ZMP and not talking to tower. it's not like the show was a surprise, I saw the altrv paperwork for the display team (can't remember if it was the blue angels or tbirds tho) last week.
  6. We're taking our first long trip in our k and I love the plane too. We'll put 2500+ miles on this week and have fun doing it, the 182 I used to have would be torture! I've flown everywhere from flight levels ifr to vfr at 10.5 this trip with solid performance everywhere. The wife HATES flying, and she's even mentioned how solid the mooney feels. I think she's almost starting to enjoy it. For me, I had to force myself to go fly the 182, don't have that problem with the K, I'm always looking for an excuse to go somewhere, to the detriment of my bank account. Coming west this week we trued at about 190 at FL180, down low I was showing 170k ground at 10,5 VFR and I can't remember the true, about 175-180 I believe. I run conservative (I think anyway) on my leaning and was running about 1500TIT and 14gph on the flow meter for both. Can't complain about the economy. If I trail flaps I can keep the cht's in the low 300's and not see a noticable speed difference. #3 on my airplane will creep up a little, need to see if it's the probe or just airflow. Did I mention how much I love this plane? She's currently on the ramp with every cover known to man on her. Pitot, nose cozy, cabin cover, double tie downs

  8. Seems to me 8 fills and you're money ahead. Maybe it isn't worth the hassle, but it's a hassle to go get it filled before a trip too.
  9. Gonna bump an old thread and ask if you ever got set up. After paying $85 for a "fill" and only getting 1700 of the 2050PSI I needed it's looking better and better!
  10. I'll be curious how you'll like the kt74 when it's installed. we have a -76 like everyone else so that sounds appealing. King offers an adsb IN module for it, don't they? Did you purchase that or OUT only?

  12. I have a smith and wesson something or other, it was the same sold by the online pilot shops, it's red or white. Works OK.
  13. No clue where ours is, never cared to check it. Would be nice if it's above 2600 where I cruise.
  14. faster than a cessna? Which cessna? A 310? A 206, a T210? A 152? A 207? There are a lot of cessnas out there, they aren't going to know which one is 10kts faster than which other one. I'm not sure you want me to relay the reputation mooney pilots have...

  17. http://sarasotaavionics.com/avionics/gdc31-gpss ~2k for the GDC31. Our avionics shop quoted us slightly less than 1k for the AK1081 plus installation. If he has a century 41 like we do I don't know why you wouldn't use the GPSS from century.
  18. At nearly twice the cost, what is the advantage of the gdc31 over the century unit?

  20. So, I found the STC papers and sometime in the 90's mod works inc put in thicker glass, so as many suggested I assume that part is their doing.
