  1. Ben thanks for that, and will keep an eye on the calendar and weather. I'm relatively new to moonies, so always good to learn from others' experiences, particularly on this forum, frank.
  2. Ben good to hear from another mooney fan! I'm (reasonably) flexible on dates (weekdays/ends), I think if a few good days weather open up at any time... then anywhere in Europe is do-able and I'm up for it - based at EGCL, frank.
  3. After a break getting back into my m20f ex (vfr) and it would be good to meet up (any location with min 600m strip) in the UK or further afield and/or plan for a euro trip. Distance is not an issue for mooniacs; we fly faster, further, and far more efficiently than most… :-) Look forward to any interest, frank
  4. Agree, and enjoy flying the m20fex at 20 - 21 mp/17 - 19 rpm, 110 kts at a burn of 5 galls/hr and 20+ mpg (ymmv ), there are few birds (I know of) which can come anywhere close… like you Bernd, I like to be in the air, and not necessarily racing from A to B, but should the need arise… there is plenty in reserve, now where are you based in Germany? A trip beckons, frank.
  5. Nay worries... I'm half Scottish... the secret of life and a rock solid constitution is... porridge, I sheet you not :-)
  6. My max comfort time is approx 5 hrs in my Grob 109B - but then glider pilots have to cultivate a strong bladder... no nambi panzis' at cloud base :-) ps thanks carusoam - shall we meet half way across the pond?
  7. Recently transitioned to my (new to me) '76 M20F with 30hr engine three blade prop - and this site has been great resource, thanks to all. Having trawled various websites I fly LOP and over square, typically 22-23 mp and 1950 rpm at 2000ft returns me 110k/135mph at 6-6.5 gals/hr. I have an EDM700 (and still struggle to understand the "find LP function"), so I lean to roughness and enrich to just smooth and monitor EGT (1350 or below), CHT (350 or below) & oil temps (188 or below). Gami injectors will be my next upgrade. My M20F has Monroe aux tanks (2 x 17) = 34 + mains 64 = 98 gals total. So at the above cruise setting I have a max "theoretical" range (if my maths/assumptions are right with no head wind) of say: (98gals/6.5gals/hr) = 15hrs endurance /130mph = 1960 straight line miles... this affords me a degree of comfort :-)
