  1. Yeah that's true it would work just as well but I thought it was protocol to give "level", "climbing x for x" or "descending x for x" on the initial call up. I could be wrong.
  2. "With you" isn't quite at the pet peeve level of "Any traffic in the pattern please advise" but it's still unnecessary. How about "level, 6000?" Listening to the controllers at my field berate the student pilots for their sub-par radio skills has made me a little more conscious of being clear and concise with my comms.
  3. It's rare to see one Eagle, much less two so I parked next to yours yesterday. Going in for annual and 310 HP mod too!
  4. I feel smart decoding TAFs and METARs.....

    Bad Landing

My landings are almost always full UP trim (long body). On a go around there will be a strong nose up pitch force for 1-2 seconds while trimming back down but nothing unmanageable.
  6. Please don't second guess yourself. You did what was necessary to preserve your passenger's and your life and executed a safe emergency landing. That is what good pilots do. As much as we love our planes, they are machines that can be repaired or replaced if necessary. GOOD JOB!
  7. Thanks for the input guys. It did stop working suddenly. The gauge worked perfectly on start up and first takeoff, then went 0.0 on both units before my second takeoff. I aborted and taxied back to the hangar. Then i shut down and restarted and it remained on 0.
  8. I'm having issues with the fuel flow transducer in my M20S. It read perfectly for a while then went to 0.0 on both the Moritz gauges and EDM 730 with the engine running normally. I pulled the transducer with my mechanic and the turbine seems to spin freely. I've read on another thread that soaking it in carburetor cleaner can help with a sticky turbine but I'm not sure if that applies to my situation. Does anyone know if they can be repaired or refurbished or another route to go? Thanks
  9. SPILL IT! STOP BEING SO McSTEALTHY!
  10. any Mooney guys try the CSOBeech "Wal-Mart" tint job?
  11. Thanks for the responses I will try the blow dryer and plastic wrap method.
  12. Does anyone have any good recommendations on how to safely remove old, weathered leading-edge tape? I've read about a 3m adhesive removal product but I'd like to get some tips from you guys or anyone who has done it successfully. thanks in advance
  13. I went from PPL check ride directly into a M20 S and received a good 10+ hrs of training with a Mooney-specific instructor who could fly and land my plane with his eyes closed. Then when I started my instrument training with the flight school, the CFII with no Mooney time basically drooled all over the plane for the first few lessons and was as interested in the Mooney as he was teaching me IR basics. A lot of the CFIs rarely fly faster than 110 kts in Skyhawks so it's also nice to have someone who can get you thinking in Mooney time where things happen a lot faster than in trainers, and especially if you plan on practicing stalls.
