If the prebuy didn't uncover any corrosion issues, your probably good. I would put a coat of acf 50 on it, and then maybe next year follow with boshield.

Those nasty bait eating things infected the Tippicanoe river many decades ago. They decimate the crawfish and minnow population and thus destroy the bass habitat. We called them shad.

Joseph, there wont be a Mooney Summit in Kentucky this year. I think you are confusing the Mooney Summit with a MAPA safety foundation event.

Rob, it is a commom issue with the J's that develop over time. You were correct to clean the master switch terminals as it usually fixes the "waving" The VR detects resistance and flips on and off causing the windshield wiper effect on the ammeter.

I have had a number of clients move on to TBMs after they have owned s long body Mooney. They both are "numbers" planes and behave very similarly. A few have gotten their PPL in the Ovations and Acclaims and paid the big bucks for first year insurance premiums. One Boeing fellow bought an Ovation for his son in lieu of college as he wanted to be an airline pilot. He currently is flying for netjets professionally. 

Lots of ways to skin the retract time cat, but not too many better than in a Mooney

Yea shouldnt take an extra 10 hrs to learn how to close a pilot's side door , Some were fitted rather poorly and might take 10 hrs to get closed however.

In reality, its all about learning new systems in Parkers' example.

In training one of the new M20V owners, the insurer wanted me to have 50 hrs make and model. There wasnt anyone who had 50 hrs in a M20V they were that new. Mikie Miles might have double digits, but that was the pool of experience at the time. The underwriter finally accepted reality and accepted to take on their "bet" and accept that a M20TN and M20V was in reality, the same airframe albeit with a few aero improvements and another hole.

Byron, thats great your getting that life out of them. Like all rubber like products, they tend to dry out and deteriorate, unless griggs figured out something all the race bladders, hoses, O rings etc havent. 30 years is borrowed time for sealant or bladders. If they have, heck, warranty them for 33 years and put the debate to rest!

Laura Casteele at SWTA will go over "ze papurwerk" for a reasonable price IMO. This is particularly important on older airframes. She can intercept things like 25 year old bladders/sealant etc. that will be a soon to deal with maintenance item in addition to making sure all of the AD's on all the equipment is legal etc.

If it gets past her, and you still have the itch, schedule an Annual/prebuy.

There is so much more to proper transition training than just learning to land a Mooney or pounding out 10 hrs for insurance requirements. A new owner needs to be advised of best practices, Care, and all systems as well as how to yank and bank. While not saying a popped open baggage door in flight caused this or a result of baggage door ignorance ( the NTSB gets to suggest cause) a popped open baggage door is preventable and Is a distraction at best.

Dan, I'll hunt down the company who supplied me with one as it fit well. I used glue gone and mek to clean well,  and 3M "gorilla snot" to adhere the new seal. Expect closing difficulty until new seal is "broken in" to the frame. 

A few days in the f47 Sun will expedite this

Ah yes,,,the secret to selling Mooney's I have found is to teach the CPA department, herein "the wife" how to gracefully get in and out of one. While not a Mooney salesman nor have I ever been one, both at Osh and at SNF more than one Ultra's were sold after I took the time with the prospect to demonstrate to the wife how to get in one without embarrasing oneself.

Fran on the other hand, had this skill, so it was appropriate to fortify her intellectual CPA gene
