  1. Before I click the "Buy Now" button (I can't believe how much a starter adapter is!??!), I just want to get consensus from people smarter than me that this is, in fact, a starter adapter gone bad?? For what it's worth... - Plenty of amps are getting to the battery (Energizer 24) - Just installed a brand new Kissling starter solenoid ($880 from Mooney) - Connections to/from the starter solenoid to the starter are clean - 1998 M20R Ovation - Continental IO-550 (G) - Original Energizer 24 starter - 1600 Since New - I've put ~4 hours on the engine since switching from Aeroshell 15W-50 w/ Camguard to Phillips. I've heard from several people who've said that combination led to early adapter slippage Assuming it's the adapter, any good recommendations for an overhauled one? Niagara? Aircraft Accessories of OK? Aircraft Specialties? Starter Adapter.m4v
  2. I'm wondering if anyone has some input on this. We're 99% sure we've narrowed down the starting issues I've been having to the Kissling starter solenoid, PN 26.57.01. The problem is, I can't find anyone who has one of these in stock. I was thinking that a LAMAR STS-S24 Starter Solenoid would work, however it doesn't look like it's PMA'd for the M20R. I'm waiting to hear back from Maxwell for some guidance on this. In the meantime, the airplane's stuck on the ground. Are you aware of any alternatives?
  3. I thought I'd wrap up this post and share pics from the trip. Everything went well. Thanks for all of your tips. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/album/13908-idaho-to-cape-cod/

    Idaho to Cape Cod

I've been meaning to upload pictures from our trip last summer. My wife, 10 month old, and our dog flew in our 66' M20E from North Idaho to Provincetown, MA. In all, it took 17 hours and 4 days of travel. The whole trip was VFR and relatively low altitude. We hit low weather that grounded us for a few days. Gave us plenty of time to enjoy rural Ohio.
