  1. Terrific video. Thanks for sharing.
  2. You can add me if you like Ed KDKB
  3. Most all controllers I have dealt with are very professional even here in the Chicago area I totally understand how controllers can get frustrated with some people. Paychecks are delayed, they will get everything owed to them.
  4. I’ve had my 540 for some time now, never had a Garmin but flown with many of them in other planes. Prior in my Mooney I only had a GX65 so my Avidyne was a fresh install. I LOVE IT! Very easy to use, always rock solid and never a problem. Nothing against Garmin but Ill be adding another 540 to my RV -7.
  5. Didnt see it mentioned but make sure to ground your aircraft AND your fuel can (metal or plastic) before draining. Years ago I witnessed what could go wrong.
  6. If still for sale and as described I’ll pick it up and buy it. Pm me or email bluskydtl@aol.com Ed
  7. Since 1995 I had cab ice once returning from Florida during February. DPA ILS ran into some lake effect snow poping in and out of cloud. I noticed a rough run, pulled carb heat and heard several backfires then cleared up. I had a carb temp installed before flying in those conditions again. Never had carb ice during VFR flight, but ya never know.
  8. I’ve been building my -7 as time permits over the last five years and have really been enjoying the building process. Will be moving it to my hangar next month so I can start the firewall forward portion. Once you fly one you will be wondering why you didn’t do it sooner.
  9. Update. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your input. I showed the shop theses postings and they quickly adjusted from 9 hours down to two. Yall helped me save $490.00
  10. Thanks all for the clarification, I’ll go pay them a visit tomorrow to discuss. Ed
  11. Little advice / info needed. I currently have my 70C electric gear model in for its yearly inspection at a local well respected shop. The shop said the left gear pre-load needed reset and the nose gear also. The labor on the left gear was 1.5 hours and to set the nose gear its 9.5 hours. Does this labor for the nose gear pre-load sound right ???? Also while I’m In for service my aileron links / bearings are being replace along with the rudder link / bearing . Mooney currently these for $550.00 each with a three day lead time, the shop quoted 12.5 hours for the R&R. Does the labor on all three links sound correct. Thanks for for any input. Ed
  12. I have one, worked when removed 10 or so years ago for S-Tec upgrade.
  13. I’m a 100% in at the discounted price. Do we have a solid 5 takers now ?
  14. I’m very interested in a group buy if price is good.
  15. I have 540 and my auto pilot is connected to a switch. Nav 1 / Nav 2
  16. WOW! Very nice panel, something to be very proud of. Work looks excellent, I always hear great things about the shop.
  17. Spectacular trip. Thanks for sharing your link.
  18. I added a three blade on my C and would never go back. Smooth when ( Properly ) balanced and truley helps a C climb performance on hot days.
  19. I did not have a 430 / 530, just a good old GX65. I look around tried them all and decided on the IFD 540, 100, 340 full install. Definitely no regrets. I know many others that have done the same.
  20. No such thing, I have built and flown several experimental aircraft ( checking limits ) above that altitude......
