  1. I did a search on Mooneyspace and saw you had a spinning compass card on your NSD 360 HSI.  Mine did that last week and then recovered.  Did you find a solution short of a complete rebuild?

Absolutely no apologies necessary.  As I said, I was just venting after a large series of frustrations over the past week.

$10K US is $13K Cdn plus 13% sales tax = $15K Cdn (and no idea about duty $$ ) plus install, which I believe can be north of $5K Cdn.... that's $20K (at best)

Absolutely out of the question.  Many NSD 360A rebuilds for that.  I already replaced my existing NSD 360A for a serviceable used one 1 week after buying my plane 2 years ago.  Since then I've had to overhaul the Century 2000 autopilot and then the Garmin 430 went up in smoke (literally) which required me to upgrade to WAAS ($$$!) and much much more.  With fixed expenses and much more repairs since, I've been spending about $20K Cdn for EACH of the last 2 years.  The additional variable expenses of fuel and oil changes are quite frankly lost in the rounding by comparison.

At 100 hours per year and Canadian gas prices, I'm averaging about $300 per hour.  Rather than going for an Aspen, I'm close to throwing in the GA towel completely.

There.... I've vented and feel better already...

Sorry for the delayed response, we were visiting the Dakotas for a few weeks.

No chance for an Aspen unfortunately.  Probably 20-25 K in Canadian dollars which is way out of my league.

  5. Mulhouse ? Wow.  One of the most incredible auto museums I've ever been to.  Not to mention the rail museum.

Absolutely.  We'll definitely contact if/when we're in the area.  It's been a couple years since we were in Zurich.

Don't worry, we do our best every summer to support the French vintners.  A few years ago, our theme was to visit car museums and collections while on that particular cycling vacation.

Nice Peugeot museum a days ride away in Sochaux also. Managed to get a drive in a 1908 (?) model (not sure of model year)
