  1. The box cutters weren't the problem. For years the standard advice was to do whatever you were told by the hijackers to minimize your risk of being injured. Well, guess what... that doesn't work when the end goal of the hijacker IS death. Explain to me how someone is going to take over a plane with a knife having a blade length less than 2.5" and a width <= 0.5" unless everyone on the plane has been conditioned to faint dead away at the site of a pocket knife? We need less "zero tolerance" and more common sense. There was a time in this country when nearly every adult male carried a pocket knife and planes weren't dropping out of the sky.

  2. My Mooney is down in San Antonio at Aero Comfort right now. I dropped it off and they are redoing everything. "Ultra leather" over all the plastic. i.e. header, side panels. Recover the seats in leather. New carpet. Powder coating control yokes. Recover instrument panel head cover. All new placard labels. They tell me when I pick it up it will look new. I got a tour, great shop. Price $12.500.00

  3. Actually, I'd feel safer if everyone was required to carry an assault weapon when travelling on the airlines. Mutually assured destruction (MAD) worked for the entire cold war and some of the participants were a lot more dangerous than the typical airline passenger! "Ma'am, I'm sorry but you can't board until you have your ammo clip completely filled. We want everyone to be equally dangerous."

  4. We have no proof: Last week we flew 1008 statute miles in five hours flat, at max. gross weight. 11,500 ft. 9.5gph. Highest groundspeed in level flight was 224. What an amazing plane the 201 is!
