  2. I would opt to turn off the mags last in hopes that it was something else!

  3. It took me a very long time to sell my take-off McCauley prop from my '77 J for half of what you're asking. It had a lot more time on it, but it just needed to find someone with a prop strike, and they don't happen every week I'm afraid. You probably wouldn't get the upgrade crowd with the old-style prop... I'd rather spend a few thousand more to get the scimitar personally, but I have a long-term ownership horizon. The price is high enough that many folks with the ECI hub won't spend that much to make that nuisance go away IMO, but a great price for someone repairing a plane or in need of overhaul. If there is a better way to market to Canadians, you should consider that since their regs require overhauls on calendar time or hours, and they *must* do something...either replace or overhaul. You might find a buyer up there in need with out a prop strike situation.

  4. I bought an inspection camera with maybe a two foot long camera cable. I think this should work well for engine inspections prior to flights. It will sure get into spots I wouldn't be able to see even with the cowling off. Harbor Frieght sells them for about $80. The probe also fits through a spark plug hole if you wanted to check cylinders. I even thought of putting it through the floor to check and see if the landing gear was down.

  5. This same thing drove me crazy for a long time. Greased and lubed everything I could think of. Finally discovered it was coming from the shock disc assembly. In the middle of those rubber discs is a shaft that moves up and down in the steel plate at the top of the assembly. A little oil in the top of the assembly and the noise is gone.

  6. Funny, I'm planning a trip to Cabo in a couple weeks and I plotted both of our routes into JeppView. Our paths will literally "cross." After a week in Cabo I'll be heading to KSNA, then back to Denver. Have a great trip!

  7. I think flutter margins can be increased with increasing the mass balance of the control surfaces. There is a limit to everything, however. I bet the Acclaim is getting pretty close.
