I agree - just paint what needs attention -

 

we have uncovered at least three layers of paint on mine - so it was time for mine to be completely stripped.  At some time in my Mooney's life it was brown w/lavender or black stripes, copper/bronze with white stripes and green with white stripes.  Way too many layers.  You could easily strip the tops of the wings and repaint.
