Lost RPM on Takeoff

Yesterday, did a normal run up, including the mag check and prop. On the take off roll, the plane felt really sluggish, MP pressure came up to 36 or so but the RPM only went to 2100 and then began to fall. Aborted the take off and taxied off the runway. As it felt like it was loaded up with gas, I leaned the plane and ran it up with the same result. The prop and engine only have a couple of hundred hours on them. Any thoughts

Thanks

Possibly a starter problem...I had this same thing happen after having a very difficult time to start my plane (which usually starts in three blades).  After finally getting it to run with the assistance of a ground power cart, engine seemed to run fine until on the takeoff roll when RPM's failed to get above 2100 or so, and definitely a lack of power.  Aborted the T/O and thankfully there was a shop on the field....and a buddy's King Air about to return to my home field.  (Talk about luck...both bad and good in the same small time frame!)  Turned out to be a starter problem of some kind, like a hung starter IIRC...(even though there was no indication of the starter annunciator).  Replaced the OE starter with a SkyTec and plane was back to normal.

Did you get your problem diagnosed? I had my plane die at run up, Tom from topgun thinks that it could be a hole in the fuel pump diaphram leading to a flooding situation. The next day it ran normally. I am having a Annual AD test performed, maybe its your problem. I am told that that problem led to a enroute engine stall fatality.
