JPI EDM-700 Complete System

Recommended Posts

Complete 2 1/4" EDM-700 system as-removed from my flying '77 J for upgrade to EDM-900.  This system includes 4 x CHT probes, 4 x EGT probes, including a "piggyback" probe/adapter to be used on the #3 cylinder to retain the factory EGT and without using the inaccurate spark plug ring probe.  It includes the fuel flow system/transducer (not pictured), EGT/Fuel switch for the panel, data port for downloading, new hardware to connect the probes, all connectors, etc.

Also included is an OAT probe from my salvage '81.  The line from the connector was cut, but the probe and ring terminals are intact and I believe this could be added to the system without too much difficulty.  This probe is $170 new!  (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/jpiOatProbe.php?clickkey=66717)

The only cut wires were for the power (2) and to the GNS 530 (2).

Also included but not pictured will be the user guide, JPI download cable, and a Keyspan USB-serial adapter, which is the recommended adapter for downloading the data.

This system was installed in ~2004 or 2005 by the previous owner and has under 1000 hrs on it.  There was a failing display segment when I got the plane in 2007 and I sent it back and it got a new display under warranty.  It has been working flawlessly since I've had it.  It provides all of info needed to safely fly long distances, lean precisely, etc.  I'm upgrading to a primary system, otherwise I'd keep it or put it in another plane if I had one!

$1250 plus shipping, 30 day checkout period.

From old fuzzy memory of my C... And a POH...

CHT is primary...

Expect EGT to be optional... (Not calibrated, No numbers, easily adjusted with a screw driver, not on the required instrument page)

JPI would be nice for a C.

Get the optional OAT and Carb Heat TCs if possible...

Best regards,

The screen is very readable, especially since there isn't a lot of clutter and small text!  I believe a carb temp probe can be added to it as well if you want to consolidate instruments.  It is nice to have as many parameters as possible monitored and logged together as it can aid with troubleshooting and general review down the road.

Let's see what my carb heat & doghouse repair adds to my first annual since moving. All is unknown . . . Then I'll talk to him about install labor, where to put it and what's required vs what I just want to keep.

He's closed this weekend, and it's low overcast and raining right now.

Got (digital) OAT. EGT has numbers and no screwdriver slot. It's all about year and equipment--EGT and OAT are in °F; carb temp gage is in °C. both are small. How well can you read a 2-1/4" engine analyzer?

I have a UBG-16 which is identical in size.  very readable.

Scott-a

I just had the pleasure of ordering a muffler and tailpipe today, so I will have to pass on this. Hopefully annual won't find any more surprises like this! And I can button up on schedule Saturday.

Sorry to hear about this. Cheap happens... Hopefully you were able to negotiate a Cheap Bast$&d approved pricing.

There was a hole in the muffler, and a crunchy" tailpipe. But my CO card showed fine, and the Halos did a good job not letting me know that the plane was loud . . . May need to get a digital CO meter; seems there is a thread here somewhere recent with lots of model numbers and details that I need to review. Your EDM < my new muffler without tailpipe or labor.

Hope you find another interested buyer soon!
