Seeing that this is a first time poster, I won't mind asking you guys your thoughts on this bird. Won't be hurting a long timers feelings :)

Obviously the paint, interior, and listed upgrades and overhauls are all desirable. No mention about tanks.

Nothing for 2010 compliance

AD's mentioned

Etc etc

David,

In 2000, I bought a 65C with,

More hours on the AF

Slightly less hours on the engine

Original paint and interior

Fewer/lower quality radios

Less upgrades

I paid the same price as asking in this ad.

At least you would be using 2014 dollars.

Always use a qualified PPI.

The purpose of the top OH may have been to get away from the smaller exhaust valves that came with the plane. These older valves came with a lower TBO.

In case I was unclear...

Cs are great Mooneys.

PPIs are critical.

There is always a risk of needing to pay for an OH or a cylinder. Do as much as you can up front to eliminate or minimize the risk.

I had to buy a new cylinder assembly in my first year...

I got to learn many things, meet some great people, see my parents often, use my plane for work, help a friend, vacation with family...

When it sold a decade later, at less then $20k, it was older and run-out.

Some people said I lost a lot of money...

I say for $1,000/year, I gained more experience than what I paid for that plane. It was gracious enough to be the down payment on the R!

Go get to know the owner...that plane has a story to tell....

Get copies of the logs, start reading...ADs that I remember...

Oil pump gears, aileron control rods, prop hub these will be clearly documented and easy to find.

Best regards,

-a-
