  1. Thanks for the replys guys. Typical for Michigan you do need that ability to punch through an iceing layer quickly at altitude although usually its only 3000 to around 5000msl. Even with a known ice system, i would not want to be in that environment for very long. I really like the 252 setups expecially with encore conversation to raise useful load. The shorter bodies dont bother me and fit my sub 200k price range much better. One option I have noticed is a 252 rocket. They can be had very reasonable, good UL, 2000 fpm and 220kts. Negatives seam to be fuel burn and maintenance. For my price range i would be worried about steping into a more run out lesser equipped bravo. As far as time table that will be when i am confident i found the right aircraft. The F mission was alot of flight training and getting used to GA flying. It worked out great but it had pretty severe limitations on the cross country profile i flew.
  2. Hello all, Im back thinking about getting into flying again after selling my 67' F model around two years ago. Just want to get some advice on what model I should be looking at or even if the type of capabilities i seek are realistic for a G/A aircraft in the 150 to 200 AMU range. First off the mission. 50% the time its me (170IB's) and the wife (120IB's) traveling 600mile trips up and down the east coast. I fly out of Michigan so getting through that ice layer is pretty much a requirement half of the year. Im not set on a turbo aricraft but a good amount of trips are visiting family/friends in Colorado. I need to be able to get into the cool smooth air and avoid the build ups(head winds are also a serious concern). The other 50% of the time we are flying with another couple with similar weight. Truth be told, i sold my F model because it ended up being an expensive toy that was good for flight training and $100 burgers. I had to scrub over half of the planed trips because of weather (ice). Some of the trips i was able to complete i can remember being absolutely exhausted after fighting turbulence/head winds and build ups the entire 1000 nm trip. Trips like this seamed to be the norm going East to West. Does a aircraft in the Mooney fleet meet my mission while haveing the capability to comfortably complete my mission while maintaining say a 90% or better dispatch rate? Thanks for any input, Rob
  3. Still have this for sale. The buyer ended up backing out. Can be bought anytime. This is essentially an overhaul kit. The 20:1 ratio works fine. either way you must inspect them every 200 hrs. The 20:1 need to be replaced sooner than 40:1 but i have seen 2000+ hrs on 20:1 and they are still in good shape. What happens is the worm gear will wear but STILL wears on the 40:1 ALSO. Just slower.
  4. Just put it on ebay. If anyone has any questions just let me know. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271627588778?item=271627588778&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:LCA:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr For sale is exactly what is pictured. Included are the Landing Gear Motor / Actuator. The actuator was removed in working order in 2005 from a 68' Mooney M-20 C / #N6924N Serial - 680182. The actuator was found to have worn worm gear requiring removal. I am including a BRAND NEW Mooney Service bulletin kit m20-190-001 that has NEVER been opened. This includes everything needed to repair the actuator to Mooney specification. Also Included is the paperwork. Please note this is SOLD AS IS and will need to be thoroughly inspected before installation in any aircraft by Certified personal. Removed in working condition and 100 % complete to the best of my knowledge SOLD AS IS $1100
  5. Yep I try to stay up on it. Price drop, let's get this sold this month guys.
  6. Hey guys thanks for the comments. Plane is a nice example of a F. Just lowered the price 2k. Let's get this sold!
  7. Description 1967 Mooney M20F Exec 21 N9644M - 3780 TT, 1224 SMOH, 454 SPOH, Dual Nav/Com/VOR/LOC, GPS, Electric Gear, IFR, Well Maintained. This aircraft has been meticulously maintained by me and previous owners. It cruises 148kts at around 7500 burning a little over 10 GPH. The airplane flies great and all systems such as the auto pilot, instruments and avionics are in 100% working order. Just came out of fresh April annual! The paint and interior show great and I receive complements on how nice they are. Instruments and panel have been redone to the standard 6 pack panel along with rewiring of everything. It’s a great IFR aircraft that’s very dependable. You won’t find any loose or decaying bundles of wires on this bird. Everything has been done professionally. The airframe spent most of its life in Texas and Georgia and shows absolutely no signs of corrosion. I have had it inspected by Mooney service centers and multiple A&P I/A and specifically look for corrosion every year along with ACF-50 treatment. Aircraft has had the oil and filter changed every 30 hours with Aeroshell 15W-50. This bird has been flown at a minimum once every two weeks or so to prevent any cam corrosion. Engine runs great burning about a court every 8 hrs. Never flown LOP and I pay strict attention to proper engine management during decent to avoid shock cooling. All Ad’s are current and even the service bulletins have been performed like the expensive flap double plate. The logs are very complete and go back to day one on everything. There is no damage history and this plane has never been put on its belly which is getting rare for these older Mooney’s More Pictures - http://s134.photobucket.com/user/Huggerz28/library/ Avionics Audio Panel: Bendix/King KMA 24 Audio Panel W/Marker Beacon including HF GPS: Bendix/King KMD-150 Multi-Function Display / Moving Map / Color GPS Navigator #1 Nav/Com: Bendix/King KX-155 NAV/COMM W/ Glideslope #2 Nav/Com: Narco Escort-II VOR / LOC Indicator / NAV/COMM #1 VOR/LOC/GS: Bendix/King KI 209 #2 VOR/LOC: Narco Escort-II VOR / LOC Indicator / NAV/COMM Transponder: Bendix/King KT76A Altimeter: IFR 45-20 Altimeter Directional Gyro: RCA11A Attitude: RCA22-7 Encoder: ACK A-30 Engine Monitor: Insight Gem 602 - 4CHT/EGT OAT/ VOLTMETER: Davtron M303 Digital Intercom: Sigtronics SPA-400 TSO intercom, Four-Place Built In Standard Jacks ELT: Martech eagle PTT: Pilot and Copilot Yoke Push-To-Talk Switch Airframe 3,780 Hours Total Time Since New Weldon PMA'D Continuous use boost pump Dukes Landing gear Actuator Overhauled 2005 Tail Jack Screw Replaced 2012 Gear limit switch replaced 2012 No Damage History Engine Lycoming IO-360-A1A, 200 HP - 1224 SMOH Overhauled By Firewall Forward 1989 Magnetos overhauled in 2012 - 162 SMOH All Oil, Fuel and Scat hose replaced 04/18/2012 Exhaust 2011 Brackett air filter Spin on oil filter All Cylinders within Limits on Compression Reading Test at Last Annual Prop Hartzell Two Blade HC-C2YK-1/BF : NO AD – 454 SPOH Spinner replaced 2009 Overhaul in 2005 by Atlanta Propeller Overhaul Interior Interior Refurbished in 2004 Windshield and side glass Replaced Instrument panel redone (6 Pack Layout) Aircraft rewired White Textured Plastic Headliner w/ vents White Textured Plastic Window Trim Off White Fabric Side panels covered in Sound absorbing fabric Pilot and Copilot Gray Leather Reclining Seats with Lap belts and Shoulder Harnesses Rear Gray Leather individually Reclining Seat with Lap belts Gray Floor Carpeting Baggage Door with Spacious Aft Cabin Cargo/Baggage Area with Hat Shelf and Hanger Condition 8.5 (National Aircraft Appraisers Association Interior Grading Guide) Exterior Exterior Paint 2002 Lower Fuselage Metallic Blue, Upper Fuselage White, Gold Accents and Striping Pilot Side Storm Window Condition 7.5 (National Aircraft Appraisers Association Exterior Paint Grading Guide) New/Overhauled Equipment New Air Hawk Main and Nose tires W/ Tubes and bearings 04/28/2014 New Cleveland brake Pads 04/28/2014 New Spark Plugs 01/2014 Overhauled Autopilot Servo Boots 10/2013 New CONCORDE RG-35A Dry Cell Battery 10/2013 Overhauled Directional Gyro 08/2013 New Skytech Starter 12/18/2012 Overhauled Generator 12/18/2012 New ZEFTRONICS G1500N Solid state Voltage Regulator12/18/2012 All Oil, Fuel and Scat hose replaced 04/18/2012 Overhauled Mags 2012 New Gear Limit Switch 2012 Overhaul Exhaust 2011 Optional equipment and speed mods Electric Gear Manual Hydraulic Flaps Precise Flight Standby Vacuum PC wing leveler and Accutrak 2 Autopilot add-on VOR/GPS tracking Whelen Double Flash Wingtip Strobes/ Navigation Lights Remote mounted electronic tail cone compass Avionics master switch Hi/Low - Inop Vacuum indicator Heated Pitot Static Head Lower Fuselage Strobe Beacon Retractable Entry Step W/ Overhauled Servo Dual Push to talk LASAR cowl closure Aileron and flap gap seals One Piece Windshield Shoulder Harnesses Installed Overhead Cabin Air Vents Overhead Map/Instrument Lights Overhead Cabin Speaker and Cabin Light Full cabin aircraft cover Towbar Inspections Log Books are complete and continuous through 1967 No major damage history No Gear up or Prop strike Annual Inspection Due 05/01/2015 IFR Recertification Due 10/01/2015 ELT Battery Replacement Due 06/2016 Gross Weight: 2,740 lbs. 8. I have the same issue in my 67F but its more like 2550 is my max RPM. I haven't adjusted it because I figure the stock tach could be off. Needless to say I have flown 120hrs like this but my annual is this Friday so I will let you guys know the outcome.
  9. Where are the wing servos located? Also it looks like the KMD 150 can connect to the accutrak 2 which sounds like it would be a great poor mans autopilot.
  10. Just went to the airport today to have a look at the plane and the front (one closest to the back seat) rudder "servo" or boot is definitely ripped and leaking vacuum. I cant believe I have been flying this aircraft for two years just thinking it was normal. This also goes to show that Mooney service centers I have went too don't really look at autopilot parts. Is Brittian the best place to get the rubber boot repaired? Anyone know any price or lead time on this part?
  11. Hello, I currently have the PC wing leveler and Accutrak 2 installed in my 67 F model. How well does this system work for the rest of you? My wing leveler will hold the wings level if I am in very steady air but will not keep the ball centered and I am forced to hold the rudder. In any kind of turbulence it’s all over the place. When tracking a VOR the system will rock back and forth trying to track the CDI. Is this how this autopilot is supposed to function because it’s old or is my autopilot not completely functioning properly? Also can this autopilot be slaved to a KMD 150 MFD with gps and track the route? thanks, Rob
  12. Looking for a M20 E o F model. Really would like the F. I am willing to spend any ware around $60K so I am looking for a clean airframe with low (under 700hr) on the engine and props. Need good paint and interior like 7 out of 10 or better and something with recently sealed tanks/shock disk. Also need to be IFR current with an IFR gps and preferably a 430. I have looked at barnstormers, trade a plane and controller but every plane I call on needs a lot of work in one area or another. If anyone knows of a solid plane let me know.
  13. I seen this plane and am in the market. I called the guy when he first posted it a few weeks ago. Something fishy is going on. He told me it was sold and was originally trying to sell it in Brighton, MI and now it’s in Missouri. He keeps updating the posting and posting multiples but every time I call it’s either sold or no answer and not returning the voicemail. Not sure what the deal is but if it was avaibile I would be going to look at it.
  14. Quote: DaV8or And there you have it. Byron's plane is proof that just because an engine sits doesn't mean it will have corrosion on the cam. His course of action, pulling a cylinder, is a good idea in thia case. However, it will add significantly to the cost of your prebuy and the owner might not be thrilled with the idea.
  15. Thanks for the replies! From what I have been trying to establish I want to get a plane with the cleanest airframe/ good engine/prop times and good avaionics. I have set aside around $20K for issues that may come up such as fuel tanks and posible repaint but budjet is defentaly a consern and I dont want something thats going to need 50k worth of impending work. Can anyone recomend were to get a good pre buy in the indiana area?
