  1. Big Bucks...$$$$ I like clear for the front. Tint on the sides.
  2. Thank you Everyone for all their advice. i really appreciate it. its what makes this forum such a great tool. Dick when i get my plane done we have to go get some pigeons. and your advice is well noted as usual.
  3. Thank you kris and Carusoam. i really appreciate it.
  4. Thanks Jolie. Just a little scare. I can't tell you how many times I wish your mechanic Dan was at my airport. It's so hard to find good mechanics where I am.
  5. Jim, Thank you. You have helped me out a lot since i became a mooney owner. you are right Better on the ground. I did not think it was going to be an issue but apparently it was worse than I thought. my first thought was plane power when I got to my car but wasn't sure if what I needed was an alternator or not. Advice well taken. Thanks again.
  6. I was hoping someone could tell me what a probable cause is for a problem I just had tonight. I have been having to increase rpm to stop my electrical system from discharging. Tonight however I noticed I had to rev it up to about 2k rpm for it to level off. During takeoff at max power I was still showing a discharge and the alt. volt light flashing. It was too late to abort. I had to commit to takeoff. I alerted tower almost immediately I was coming back but i had to go through clouds as my field was IFR, and had to contact approach to get vectors to pick up an ILS back in. Once I leveled off at 2k the electrical system stabilized and I did not have the problem anymore. A fire truck was called to escort me to my parking spot once I landed and he said he smelled a electrical burning smell. I did not smell anything. Does anyone know what may be the culprit? The battery is a gill and is about 2yrs old. The alternator is about 3yrs old and came with the lycoming engine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  7. This is a first, someone is bored of pouring money into a plane. lol but seriously. no harm will come to the instruments with letting the vaccum fail.
  8. #1, and #3 run the hottest on my plane. in cruise it settles around 335 or so. the only way i get temps like you are describing is if i would close the cowl flaps and i am climbing, however i was always told anything under 400 is ok.
  9. I hate to be the negative one on this. But it seems this is a downgrade from last year. I liked the idea that most of the guys were staying at the same place and the hotel/Mapa provided transportation to the hotel. There was no need to rent a car. It made it rather easy to make new friends and socialize with other Mooney owners. The presentations seem to be not on the same par from what I understand from years past. The location is questionable to me. A MAPA homecoming to me should be in a major city or at least Kerrville. I think this speaks of MAPA'S current economic status more than anything. I am not as excited to go this year as I was last year’s event.
  10. I make a similar trip that you anticipate fairly often in a J. I go from (Long Island 15 mins from KHPN) FRG-FXE (Ft. Lauderdale) with 1 stop and it takes me about 7hrs down and 6hrs back. With about $1100 in fuel R/T ROP.
  11. E -W true x-country. NY-Cali and back making a few stops along the way. N-S NY - Dominican Republic and back.
  12. Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it.
  13. I just installed a new transducer for a shadin miniflow. Shadin suggests programming the K-factor to 29.84. This setting is too high as it indicates me burning 13+GPH. My fuel receipts also do not verify these findings. Does anyone know the correct K-Factor? I have the I0-360-A3B6 Engine and not the "D" version if this makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. I have never heard of this practice but would NEVER do this. no one can convince me that putting AVGAS in a crankcase is a good idea.
  15. Rob, Welcome to mooneyspace. I am not familiar with the E models as much as other people on here are. But I can tell you about the fuel tanks. This unfortunately is a problem inheritant in all money’s. If what you deem "spot repair" meaning the inspection panels being resealed. That is not something that should bother you. I have had to reseal what seems to be all of mine and have to do it again. It’s nothing serious is what I am getting at. That’s really all I can help you with. There are so many great people on here that I am sure will contribute and help you out on a lot of your other questions.
