  1. Thanks Andrew! nice video. I've contacted Executive - their current tie down is $55 per night. I've also contacted Tie Down Guest House - on the field. Has anyone stayed there? Concerning our route - we're first visiting North Dakota, then on to Glacier National Park - so the Canada flight will just be from Glacier up to Calgary area.
  2. OK, thanks for the replies! Yes, I have contacted Springbank directly and verified that the tiedown per night is $55 for our Mooney.....$160 per night for a hangar (which we wouldn't use...) Those are Canadian $$, so not quite so painful.... I understand that tiedown is probably extremely limited at Springbank Aero...so the $15 tiedown is probably not going to be available. Late August is the timeframe. Just thought there might be an alternative...but guess it's not quite what we're used to in US....
  3. We are planning a flight with two Mooneys this fall from the east coast to Glacier NP and then on to Calgary/Banff area. The prices we're getting for parking near Calgary are incredibly high....$55 per night for each Mooney is about the best we've seen. Does anyone know of a good option? We'll have to have access to a rental car somehow...which may complicate things. Thanks, Karen
  4. Has anyone replaced the flap indicator lamp? The parts manual calls out two items- 270-1930-0171-702 and GE370. These items don't appear to have anything in common. The assembly that is in the airplane vaguely looks like the 270 p/n that I find on the Dialight website, but the dimensions are wrong. The GE370 is much too large for the Dialight assembly. Any ideas?
  5. Thanks, guys. We're enjoying it so far! The "after" photos were of one of our first flights. Still adjusting... The 330 vs 327 transponder was just a cost decision. Gotta stop somewhere.....
  6. I just wanted to show off our recent avionics upgrade. The photos are before/during/after. Pretty pleased with the results. We had Air Associates in Asheboro, NC do the avionics work and Flying Leaf Aviation do the windshield remove/replace. We removed all of the existing (appeared to be original) avionics with the exception of the wing leveler. Installed the following: Garmin GNS530W GPS system Garmin SL30 Nav/Com with G/S PS Engineering PMA 8000 MP3 Audio panel Garmin GTX327 Transponder JPI EDM 830 Engine analyser with fuel flow RC Allen Standby electric horizon

  9. We're considering having the windshield replaced when we take our M20J in for avionics soon. I see on the LP Aeroplastics website that there are two choices .187 and .250 - any real advantage to the thicker plastic? And would it be a real pain to install the thicker windshield? Has anyone had a shop do the work - if so, about how many hours did they charge you? I'm just asking for reference - I'll let you know how it all ends up for us.
  10. Thanks, all - we did actually think about polishing the spinner....but we're more the painted-spinner kind! I ended up going to another paint supplier, got a much better PPG Concept match. It's not absolutely perfect, but it's good enough (I think we'll be the only ones who can spot the slight hue difference.) Now, on to the avionics refurb in a couple of weeks!
  11. I'm trying to upload my first photos to my album - but I get "Err" after it appears to load the photos. I've tried it using Mozilla and IE - I've tried it using the full size photos and then resized them to make them smaller They photos are .jpg format - Any ideas on what's wrong? Thanks, Karen
  12. We're new Mooney owners - recently sold our Cessna 206 and purchased our first "fast" airplane! We need to re-paint the spinner and a couple of other areas. Specifically, we're trying to locate a source for the original "Tan" base color. Our local paint shop tried to match it - the result was not good. The paint was shiny but just not quite the right color! The parts catalog calls for Pratt and Lambert color #577-633 - however, that company now only seems to do house paint. Anyone have a source or a paint # that will be a close match? I have local suppliers for PPG and Dupont Nason paint products.
