  1. I've bought two other planes in the past, but they were all New England and I'm in CT. This is the first long distance transaction I was working on. I did learn a lot but I do not think that what they did was right and I don't think the majority of sellers operate this way. Still, valuable points of view were shared about what to look for and what questions to ask with Mooneys which I really appreciate. Thanks again.
  2. It's a moot point now as it seems they sold the aircraft out from under me. Thank you all for your input. Hish
  3. The Century I autopilot seems to be STC'd for an M20C and up. Does anyone know of anyone who installed it on an M20B via a field approval? Any other simple/inexpensive autopilot options for a non PC equipped Mooney?
  4. Hi All, I've been lurking on this site for years and may finally have found the Mooney for me. https://www.barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?id=1550786&catid=20601 The airplane is currently in annual (10/2019) and the issues I know of are as follows: AD Hub ECI Cylinders with 50hr inspections and need to be replaced in about 600 hours according to the last annual inspection entry. Tanks are clean 2283 TT 458 SMOH No Autopilot but decent instruments (standard six pack) avionics & interior. Is anyone familiar with this aircraft or could recommend a mechanic in the Mesa/Phoenix area for a prebuy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Hish
  5. Thank you drapo and cctsurf. That's exactly what I was looking for. Hish
  6. Hi Bob, I bought into an Archer partnership because it was too good an opportunity to pass up. The Archer has been great as I work towards an instrument rating, but I'm still looking for the ability to efficiently go places faster. The Cs would be great values but the old panels aren't so good for someone just getting their IR I think. I have a potential partner in a Mooney if I can find the right one.
  7. Hi All, Is there a known range of how much it costs to convert vintage panel layouts to standard six? I'm not talking about glass/gps. Just getting the layout cleaned up. Are there any outfits that sell update kits that include the panel face and hardware needed? Do most folks who have done this do it themselves (their A&P) or send the plane somewhere to be done? Hish
  8. Could someone with an M20C or M20F be so kind as to measure the width across the rear bench? Or if someone knows for sure that they are identical, that would be good to know too. Thanks, Hish
  9. Considering a first aircraft purchase. 1962 M20C 2850TT, 375 SMOH in 1995. Gear up in 1992 repaired. It seems many linkages/rods were also repaired. Prop replaced at the same time. Hangared entire life. Last annual was in 2010. Owner said he's been regularly doing washing, start, taxi, runup and changing the oil. Pictures show that the paint is great and leather interior is very good. Price is $22k. http://www.trade-a-plane.com/detail/aircraft/Single+Engine+Piston/1963/Mooney/M20C/2086734.html My mission is mostly me flying and hopefully occassional family flight (wife and 7 and 8 year old kids) Seems like it could be a good buy but would like to hear your opinions. Thanks, Hish
