  1. I have a 64 E model and have had friends fly it including my A&P and have been told that my airspeed indicater is off by 20 knots. I wondered why nobody lands the thing as well as me :-) I guess I have just got used to it. I rotate at 80 and on the hi side I get 160 mph during cruise. When landing i do my final turn at 100mph and do my landing flare at 90mph. Annual is due at the end of this month. Does anyone out here have a good used ASI that will work? I'd rather buy a good used one than be grounded while this one gets sent off. Anyone? Call me (919)524-0778 Steve Bennett N7148U 64E model
  2. John, I'm very interested. Why is it out of your E model? How much do you want for it ? Steve (919)524-0778
  3. Does anyone know a onestop shop for a good ASI for my 64 E model? I am feeling shopped out and just want to know who to call. Steve Bennett 64 E model 7148U
  4. Thanks for your honest thoughts everyone, The PCU is the one I bought. I agree that "Low use" isn't a good thing. To elaborate further the thing was only flown 80 hours in 10 years. I'm sure that's why all the oil leaks. But hey, we are getting the bugs worked out. Steve Bennett
  5. I recently purchased a 64 e model. It was only flown 8 hours in the last 20 months before my purchase. I have flown it 40 hours in 3 months since buying it and it has taken on some oil leaks. It's had several trips to the mechanic then I fly it and a few more things start leaking. It started leaking heavily after a 3 hour cross country flight to Atlanta. It was dumping a quart an hour. I just had the prop governor removed and the gasket replaced and it got a little better. The mechanic said that he tightened slightly the bolts on the gov and that it might be leaking from a seal that he can't change. I called a prop shop today and they suggest just scrapping the old governor without even bench testing it. I said it works fine it just leaks oil. I've ordered a new governor but while I was ordering I said to myself that I was going to post my problem here and see if other members here think I did the right thing. Ok, let me have it. I spent 1764 dollars on a new one before install. Steve Bennett 1964 M20E
  6. I'm in Chapel Hill and like the last poster, I fly every weekend. Most pilots love to show off their airplanes. My mechanic is in SE Greensboro (919)524-0778 Steve Bennett
  7. Fellers, Nascar makes that new REAL STICKY duct tape. 4 pieces and you're done. No fancy riviting. easy di yourself project.
  8. Mine was popping like crazy, A previous post or two said unburned gas in the exhaust. I took off my cowling and found a big hole in the exhaust. I ordered a new exhaust system and problem solved. Plus it's quieter, and doesn't stink "as much". Shouldn't the exhaust last more than 51 years ? Steve Bennett 64 E model
  9. I had my old controls powder coated today. Cost for both was 125 bucks. They baked them at 375 degrees. The cabin gets hotter than that in the summertime right? Here are some before/after pics. I'm very happy does it show ? :-)
