  1. Never used Coast, but do have experience with CrownAir where during one of my annuals, they rammed something into my wing and bent the metal around the wing tip...denied it at first and said i flew it over like that and it must've happened in my hangar. I took a picture of my hangar which was completely empty. Then i pushed one of their tool boxes up towards the wing and showed how it was amazing how the tool box had the exact same height as the wing. Still didn't accept responsibility, but fixed it and repainted. I'll probably go to Coast next time.
  2. Sold! First Mooney for the new owner, so i'm sure he's pumped!
  3. Hey guys...getting rid of my first born. Asking $108k. Working with Controller to update to show that it's a TSIO-360LB model and also put some interior pics on there. Let me know david@liondesk.com if you're interested. It was hangared in San Diego since i bought it and just moved to South Florida 6 months ago. https://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/31834623/1981-mooney-m20k-231
  4. My dad, in 1984 bought a brand new 231. I remember flying around in it as a kid. Fast forward about 30 years or so...last July he got re-certified and started flying with me in my 231 that i had purchased in 2014. We both have a huge affinity towards Mooney. Not too long after, he asked if I wanted to fly from San Diego to Florida with him on a cross country so that he could borrow the plane and buzz around Florida where he lives. After a few months, he knew it was time to buy a new plane and that he'd love to buy a new Mooney. We went to an air show with myself, him and my step mom. We both sat in the new Acclaim, a G36 and a Cirrus. There was no way he was getting the Mooney after we sat in the Cirrus...and my step mom...yeah, all you had to say was "parachute". I'm not sure if Mooney will ever be able to compete, but it won't happen unless a major shift in design and thought. We picked up the new Cirrus G6 last month and it dawned on me that they were a Sales & Marketing company that sells planes. As a business owner, i know how hard it is to change and i can't imagine trying to do it while dealing with the FAA. I still have and love my Mooney, and although my heart is with them, i'd rather buy a used G3 Cirrus then a used Ovation or Acclaim.
  5. Been running my 231 at > 25LOP at 32" / 2400-2500 @ <= 9gph getting ~155 true. I can lean it down to 7.9 or so and it runs just as well. Gamis, no intercooler (never needed in once in 4 years...ever, at any altitude up to 18-19k), and the JPI EDM 830.
  6. Hmm... So Acclaim it may be. Good perspective. Thanks!
  7. @rainman yeah.. Good point. Most of my flying is for business, though the kids will be more and more as they get older. @LANCECASPER do you know what the fpm is on the Ovation past 12k?
  8. @milotron Aerostar...haven't even looked....researching now.
  9. Hey y'all, had an m20k for the past few years, love it and never had an issue...but...could be time for an upgrade this year. I live in So-Cal and we have some good mtns, and i enjoy flying to Colorado, or up to Mammoth (7135 ft) in CA. I'm used to the Turbo at this point, but i'm looking at those new ovation ultra's and it seems like they may not have an issue getting up there compared to the Acclaim. Yet the Acclaim at 200+kts cruise seems pretty GD nice as well. Wife + 5 yr old + 1 yr old + me + bags.... Or...even bump up(?) to a Mirage or Malibu. I really love Mooney's..my dad had one when i was 8 and i've been hooked since. PS, anyone want to buy a freshly annual'd M20K? - Dave
  10. Was in my first mooney as a 7 year old in '84..bought my m20k in 2014 and am looking at the new Acclaim or Ovation Ultra to get this year. I went by the Mooney booth at EAA 2 years ago and they were incredibly nice...not sure what changed in two years, but every experience i've had has been great. Let's not put the blame on the company if there's a bad sales rep or two at a booth.
  11. Anyone know what the options are for f45 hangar? I'm flying my m20k out to fl with my pops and he's going to base it there for a while. TIA
  12. Dave,

I have been experiencing a similar autopilot issue on my KAP 200 ( No FD version of KFC 200) as you did a couple of years ago. I sent the controller to Bob Bramble but he didn't find any thing wrong with it . I was suspicious of the power supply as the latching is "weak" . Would you please share what your solution to your issue was ?

    Thanks,

    Paul Reinke

  13. I did notice some oil around one of the hoses that I hadn't seen before. I'm looking for a mechanic to come out, but thanks for the feedback guys. I'll let y'all know what happens.
