  1. Any new info on 84V? It looks good on paper. Matt
  2. I can understand his concern about having the plane stuck somewhere. He sounded very frustrated, wasnt interested in a deposit. Bring me a check for 48k, fly the plane home. Said he has a guy coming Sunday with a check. No worries
  3. Well I should have asked more questions in the beginning, didn't like my thoughts about pre purchase inspections by Mr. Maxwell. O well, on to the next one.... Thanks for the responses Matt
  4. Matt,

If you decide to drive up to Monette this weekend and are passing thru or near W Memphis let me know.  I'm not busy this weekend, and weather looks good.  I also know a bit about M20Cs.

      Thanks Neil,

Depending on the weather I'm looking at flying into Jonesboro. Talked with Bill Starnes some last night, he may be able to visit the plane Friday, we'll see.

I'll let you know, appreciate all the help!

  5. Weekend looks good, thinking a road trip is in order. Matt
  6. I have gotten a name and number via PM of a mechanic that is reasonably close. I think I will see if he would be interested in roadtripping to give it an educated once over, or knows someone that might. I like everything about the plane, I think I have some first time buyer jitters... combined with previous ill researched impulse buys that didn't work out so well I am trying to be cautious with this one. Matt
  7. Thanks for the replies guys, I may have left out some info on my concern about the avionics install thinking the details were in the thread from a few years ago, looking back it was in a separate conversation. The owner did the radio upgrades himself is what I was referring to, I haven't seen many owners take on something like that and didn't know if I was making more out of it than I should. Total time doesn't concern me much, I'd rather have one that has been used and taken care of. Bonal, I have not seen it in person yet, trying to find the best way to get from central Texas to Northeast Arkansas Matt
  8. Morning all, I am considering a Mooney C as my first airplane, while doing some investigating on a potential candidate I came across this old thread http://mooneyspace.com/topic/11148-shameless-opinion-seeking/#comment-134670 . The trade a plane ad is here http://www.trade-a-plane.com/detail/aircraft/Single+Engine+Piston/1977/Mooney/M20C+Ranger/1732963.html I would also like to ask for the opinion of the Mooneyspace community. A few of my concerns are the lack of use (~40 hrs/year), being for sale for 2 years, and avionics being installed by the owner. I've talked to the seller some, the date of the engine overhaul was 2008 and the hours in the ad have not changed since its been for sale as far as I can tell. Should I be concerned with self-installed avionics? What do yall think? Thanks Matt
  9. Thanks for the welcome, been lurking for a while trying to learn as much as possible. E's and F's are still on my list, just found a C that fits the bill. I do like the pros of the C, cylinders and hot starts and so forth. Matt
  10. Thanks for the replies, Carl; Thats almost what I had decided, my wife has been in a F and didnt mind the front seats. I'm thinking a roadtrip may be in order. Paul; my sister is in Austin, I'll keep you in mind if we're down there soon ,or let me know if you find yourself in the area. Matt
  11. Good evening fellow Mooneyfolks, I've never been in a Mooney. I found one that has caught my eye a few states over, before I get too serious would anyone in the area be willing to give me an intro to a C model preferably. I'd gladly pay for fuel. Matt
  12. Curiosity is getting the best of me and I cant find much with google to answer this question. Is it possible to convert an early model push-pull control system to a mid 70's style quadrant/lever style? Thanks, Matt
